Emergency Contact Numbers in Turkey: Which Numbers Should You Know?
The Single Number for All Emergencies: 112
As of July 10, 2021, the various old emergency call numbers in all of Turkey’s 81 provinces have been unified under a single roof: the 112 Emergency Call Center.
In the event of an incident, you only need to call 112 without hesitation. The 112 Emergency Call Center will dispatch all relevant teams (health, security, firefighting) to the scene simultaneously, based on your needs.
What to Keep in Mind When Calling 112
- Stay Calm: Speak without panicking.
- State the Address Clearly: Provide the exact address of the incident and, if possible, a nearby landmark (school, mosque, bridge).
- Describe the Incident: Briefly explain what happened (fire, accident, medical issue) and how many people are affected.
- Don’t Hang Up: Stay on the line until the operator tells you to hang up. They may ask for more information or require you to wait for coordination.
- Don’t Make Unnecessary Calls: 112 is reserved for emergencies only. Unnecessary calls can endanger the lives of those in real need.

Fires, the Fire Department, and DisastersIn situations involving fires and disasters, fire department services play a vital role. In Turkey, you can reach the fire crews by calling 110 in the event of a fire. Here are some important points to keep in mind during a fire:
- Do not try to extinguish the fire yourself: The fire can grow, so it is best to call for professional help.
- Move to a safe location: Get away from the fire area and move to a safe place.
- Use the emergency exits: In case of a fire in a building, use the emergency exits to get outside.
